Miss Marcelle Duarte

    

    Miss Duarte is currently completing her undergraduate degree in vocal performance at the Aaron Copland School of Music.  She has performed in several operas including The Magic Flute, Hansel and Gretel, The Tales of Hoffmann and La Boheme.  Marcelle has also premiered several pieces including a Micro opera by Ned Rorem and The Whydah's Gold, an opera by Robert Weller and Richard Faith.  Recently she premiered The Past Is Now, a song cycle based on the poetry of May Sarton, written by Joel Mandelbaum for the Long Island Composers Alliance.  Her award credits include The Music Lovers Award as well as the Claire Maringiello Award 2004.

    Upcoming performances include Adele in Die Fledermaus, a performance of Samuel Barber's masterpiece, Knoxville; Summer of 1915 with the Queens College Orchestra, director Maestro Maurice Peress, and Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire, director Daijiro Ukon.  Miss Duarte will graduate the Copland school this spring and plans to attend graduate school to receive her Masters in Performance.
